alg_denise_new_cryingI imagine there are a few gazillion Moms who might happily zap their kidlets’ Facebook profiles — or at least try to ration the daily obsession with Farmville. But before you block access to the Nursery Barn or madly study Facebook’s latest privacy settings, consider this: A woman who locked her son out of his Facebook account and posted her own items on his page was convicted Thursday of misdemeanor harassment and ordered not to have contact with the teenager.

But before you Yelp the judge, read on.

Denise New of Arkadelphia, Arkansas was ordered to pay a $435 fine and complete anger-management and parenting classes. Upon completion, she could regain visitation rights to see her 17-year-old son, Lane New, who has lived with with his grandmother for the past five years.

The brouhaha started when Mom and son, who both told the judge their relationship had been crumbling in recent months, argued about Lane’s refusal to return a key to the house. When Mom noticed Lane’s Facebook profile still open, she changed his password — and that’s when the real craziness began. Not satisfied with merely preventing her son’s access to the social networking site, she posted crude posts on Lane’s page including this gem: “The only mistake I ever made was having a kid.”

She also wrote, “Check this out – I went to my mom’s and deliberately started an argument and called the police on her. She almost went to jail. How cool is that? Ha, ha, ha.”

And it gets even wackier. “If I’m found guilty on this,” New told a reporter, “it is going to be open season on parents.”

Anyone know if there’s a “Denise New” group on Facebook? How about “A Million People Who Think Denise Would Look Fab in An Orange Jumpsuit?”
